Talchua Marine Police Nabs 11 for Illegal Fishing inside Gahiramatha Marine Sanctuary in Kendrapara

KENDRAPARA : Backed DGP Abhay and ADGP(Railways and Coastal Security) Pranabindu Acharya’s pro-active role and timely guidance from Central DIG JN Pankaj and Kendrapara SP Sandeep Madkar, District Police scripting one after another success story with Talchua Marine Police Limits led by IIC Shreekant Kumar Barik under Rajnagar Assembly segment of the district, arresting as many as 11 and seizing their boats for illegal fishing inside Gahiramatha Marine Sanctuary of Bhitarkanika National Park.

Basing on the written report of Debasis Bhoi, Range officer Gahirmatha WL Range Talchua MarinePS Case No-34 Dt-16.3.21 U/S-332/353/307/427/34 IPC RW Sec 51 of Wild life (Protection) Act 1972 is registered and S.K. Barik, IIC, Talchua Marine PS himself took up investigation of case. On 15.3.21 night at about 10.30 PM one illegal fishing trawler namely ‘’NEW JANANI-1’’ was fishing illegally inside the Gahiramatha Marine Sanctuary (spot i.e. N 20 39’ 41.6”, E 087 13’26.8”). When the boat was detected by forest patrolling party, all the boatmen attacked, assaulted, attempted to kill them in sea, damaged patrolling boat namely Padmalaya. Honourable High Court of Orissa passed instructions on 19.3.21 while hearing a PIL WP (C) 7118 of 2021 to provide a speed boat and one section of armed force to each 3 Marine Police Station of Kendrapara District i.e. Talchua, Jamboo, Tantiapal.

As per orders one section of force was deputed to each Marine Police Station on 2.4.21.A 12 ton speed boat from Paradip Marine PS arrived at Talchua Marine PS as per order of Addl DG of Police Railway and Coastal Security, Odisha and one 12 ton Speed boat was shifted to Tantialpal MPS from Jamboo on 2.4.21 for patrolling and tracing and apprehending accused persons.

IIC, Talchua Marine conducted frequent raids with help of forest staffs in speed boat and seized alleged boat namely NEW JANANI-1 vide Regd No-IND-OR-01-MM-514 is seized on 8.4.21 at 8.20 PM. As prima facie evidence U/S-332/353/307/427/34 IPC RW Sec 51 of Wild life (Protection) Act 1972 is well established against all the accused persons namely 1. Ratan Dey (42) S/O-Lt Hemanta Dey of Vill-Paikasahi, 2. Babulal Maity (54) S/O-Lt Bhima Charan Maity, Jayadurgapatana both are of PS-Dhamara, 3. Gobinda Mandal (29) S/O-Sapan Mandal of Vill-Jhadakata, 4. Arjun Hazra(30) S/O-Lt Sasanka Hazra 5. Ashok Matia (45) S/O-Subrat Matia both are of Vill-Sailendrapalli, 6. Gautam Barik(35) S/O-Amal Barik, 7.

Pranakrushna Barik (45) S/O-Lt Sripati Barik both are of Vill-Amanagar, 8. Ramkrushna Bera(26) S/OGadadhar Bera of Vill-Jyosnamayee, all are of PS-Bansada, Dist-Bhadrak, 9. Srikrushna Bera (40) S/OGadadhar Bera of Vill-Jayadebkaspa, PS-Chandipur, Dist-Baleswar, 10. Md Sarab Alli Saha (41) S/O-Mafil Alli Saha, 11. Nityananda Das(33) S/O-Pullin Bihari Das both are of Vill-Vekta, PS-Talchua Marine, DistKendrapara, all the accused persons are arrested today i.e. on 09.4.21 at 6.40 AM are to be forwarded to honourable court of NGN cum JMFC, Rajnagar.
