Bhubaneswar Pedals for Hockey India

Bhubaneswar : With the Hockey World Cup craze gripping the attention of the national to international sports enthusiasts the denizens of Bhubaneswar are not far behind taking the pride of hosting the mega event yet another time.

To spread the hockey world cup fever among the denizens of Bhubaneswar a cyclothon under the “Chak de Bhubaneswar”, a city activation programme, was organised in the presence of Hon’ble MLA Central, Ananta Narayana Jena

Hon’ble MLA(Bhubaneswar North) Sri Susant Kumar Rout, Hon’ble Mayor, Sulochana Das, BMC Commissioner, Vijay Amruta Kulange , Addl. Commissioner, Laxmikanta Sethi, Addl. Commissioner II Binaya Kumar Dash OAS,

Addl. Commissioner III Mayur Suryavanshi and Odia cine stars , Sabyasachi Mishra and Archita Sahu also joined hands in the rally for the magnificent initiative in the early morning today.

Aimed at promoting cleaner, greener ways of commuting and living which resonates with the city’s vision to nurture sustainable & liveable Bhubaneswar, the cyclothon witnessed more than 900 cyclists from 3 locations : Airport Square, Esplanade Mall square, XIMB square.

Honourable Mayor Bhubaneswar along with Commissioner BMC and Additional Commissioner III and corporators flagged off the programme at Airport square. Sabyasachi Mishra along with esteemed MLA(Bhubaneswar) north region, and Additional Commissioner,

and corporators flagged off the programme at XIMB square. Archita Sahu along with esteemed MLA(Bhubaneswar) central region, Additional commissioner II and corporators flagged off the programme at Esplanade square.

All the participants gathered at Master canteen square and cheered for team India with the hockey theme song “Pura Khela”. The event was concluded with a rock band performance by a local band and the BMC officials urging the local residents to be a responsible host of the event and take pride in it.
