BMC proceeds for green patch in different institutions
Bhubaneswar : With a mission to have green cover in different parts of the city, Hon’ble Mayor of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Smt. Sulochana Das has started a move to plant seedlings in different Municipal institutions. On the eve of World Environment Day 2022 Smt. Das proceded to BMC Homoeopathic dispensary at Chandrasekharpur for plantation of seedling there. Accompanied by Deputy Mayor Smt. Manjulata Kanhar and local corporators the plantation drive took place where local community members and women Mission shakti groups welcomed the step.
BMC has planned to continue such plantation drive in different institutions like Ward offices, hospitals and parks. All corporators have been requested to facilitate adoption of plants in their respective wards told Mayor Smt. Das. She also added that corporate bodies and private institutions will be requested by BMC to create green patch in their respective premises for supporting Green Bhubaneswar initiative.
The plantation drive also started in two other health institutions namely Urban Primary Health Center, Bharatapur and BMC hospital at Old town, Bhubaneswar. Familiar seedlings like, Pista badam(Terminalia Catapa), Patuli(Alostonia Scolaris), Baula ( Mimusops Elengi),
Jamukoli (Syzygium Cumuni),
Bahada (Terminalia Bellerica),
Karanja (Millettia Pinnate)and
Ashoka (Sarca Asoca) were planted.
Such deciduous plants are choosen in order to get shadow during summer season and other benfits.
City Engineer, Arun Kumar Nayak, Environment Officer, Basant Kumar Mallick, Horticulturist, Girija Bhusan Sathpathy, Corporators of Ward No. 13(Itishree Das), Ward No. 7(Josodhara Pradhan), Ward No. 1(Mihir Kumar Rout), Ward No. 4(Sukumar Sahoo), Ward No. 5(Minushree Khuntia), and Ward No. 26(Bharati Singh), were present during the occasion.
